Equilaw are proud sponsors of Age UK Gloucestershire

What they do:
Age UK Gloucestershire is dedicated to supporting older people across the county. Their mission is to help everyone in Gloucestershire make the most of later life by offering expert advice, practical support, and opportunities for connection, especially for those facing isolation, health issues, or financial hardship.

How they do it:
Operating at the heart of local communities, Age UK Gloucestershire runs a range of services including information and advice, social groups, community activities, and wellbeing initiatives. They help older people stay active, connected, and independent. Their work is powered by local volunteers, donations, and partnerships with organisations like Equilaw.

What their goals are:
Age UK Gloucestershire aims to make the county a place where growing older is celebrated, not feared. Their goals include reducing loneliness, enhancing wellbeing, improving access to local services, and ensuring that every older person feels valued and supported.

  • Marie Curie

Each year we support a local charity. This year our chosen charity is Marie Curie.

Marie Curie provide frontline nursing care for patients and a free support line for all affected by death and bereavement.

  • Dogs For Good

Every year we support a local charity. For the years of 2019, 2020 & 2021 our chosen charity was Dogs for Good.

Dogs for Good is a life-transforming charity that trains dogs to support adults and children with a wide variety of disabilities and conditions to live full and active lives in the community. They place assistance dogs and run workshops and community services across the South West from their satellite centre in Bristol.

The dogs bring independence to people by taking on many practical tasks, such as retrieving items, helping them get dressed and opening doors. As well as the practical help the dogs provide, the emotional support they give is unparalleled. The dogs support people of all ages, so whether 8 or 85, they find a way for the dogs to help. For their clients, this could mean leaving the house to meet a friend for the first time in 17 years or remembering a dog they used to own during one of their dementia support sessions.

Despite the challenges of the pandemic we were still able to host numerous fundraising events and we raised a total of £26,887. Our fundraising donation also resulted in us being able to fully sponsor a Dogs for Good puppy – Gabby!

  • Maggie's

Every year we support a local charity. For 2019 our chosen charity was Maggie’s.

Maggie’s provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends, following the ideas about cancer care originally laid out by Maggie Keswick Jencks. Built in the grounds of NHS cancer hospitals, Maggie’s Centres are places with professional staff on hand to offer the support people need. Deleted: Our Centres are places to find practical advice about benefits and eating well; places where qualified experts provide emotional support; places to meet other people; places where you can simply sit quietly with a cup of tea. The first Maggie’s Centre opened in Edinburgh in 1996 and since then Maggie’s has continued to grow, with 20 Centres at major NHS cancer hospitals in the UK and abroad. Maggie’s also has an Online Centre.
